FABRICS | OUR FIBERS
ELASTAM:
Spandex (or Elastan) is a polyurethane-made synthetic fiber highly used to elasticize fabrics. It
can stretch up to 500% without ripping up; it can be exposed to multi stretching cycles, and still
return to its original length. It’s scraping-, body oil-, sweat-, lotion- and detergent-resistant.
TENCEL:
Lyocell (or Tencel) is a 100% natural fiber, coming from the cellulose extracted from the eucalyptus
tree. It ensures extraordinary qualities and performances compared to other fabrics (natural and
synthetic), and also maintains ideal conditions for the human skin. Its distinctive features are
good breathability, moisture absorption, and great resistance easily up to 40 °C.
VISCOSE:
Viscose (Rayon) is a synthetic fiber that emulates the softness of the plant-based ones. It’s made
from tree wood pulp treated with a solution of lye. In fashion viscose is very much appreciated for
its natural silkiness and breathability. It’s often combined with other organic, high-quality fibers
in order to make it even softer.
RAMIE
Ramie is a fiber of plant origin that has been used in the Far East for thousands of years, however
it has limited use and spread in the Western countries because its processing costs are very
expensive, especially the extraction of the raw fiber. In fact, it’s obtained from the trunks of two
species of the nettle family Urticaceae. Ramie is well known because it withstands high temperature,
it’s easy to spot clean, and doesn’t shrink in the wash.
